The traditional farmhouse has been built with sturdy granite walls which are effective against the heat as well as cold and has been completely renovated just two years ago when it was updated and refurnished to compliment the traditional character. Outside the pool and terrace area is bordered by flowering shrubs and vines. Nestling in a leafy valley of cork woodland and a river running through meadows with grazing sheep this is definitely one of the most romantic spots of the area. Ideal countryside retreat: The Monchique municipality is considered by many to be one of the most unspoilt and stunningly beautiful regions of the Algarve in southern Portugal. The village of Monchique and surrounding mountainous region offer a peaceful contrast to the coastal areas that form the backbone of the region's tourist industry. Clearly visible from most of the Algarve are the Foia and Picota mountains, who lend the area its name of Serra de Monchique.The village itself nestles between the two peaks, the one of Foia being the highest point in the Algarve, at 902 metres above sea level.
