Sole Bay Cottage occupies a prime position on South Green, Southwold, offering views of the sea over the Green and is neighbour to the Red Lion public house. Southwold is renowned as the most English of traditional seaside towns; calming, steeped in history and architecturally interesting. The recently restored pier adds to the charm. Southwold has the Adnams brewery and their pubs serve excellent beers and food to a standard to match. Nearby are bird sanctuaries, heaths, marshes and the sandy beach stretches for miles. Southwold is an excellent destination for all times of year. The house provides ample accommodation for up to 8 persons, with the possibility of a ninth on a single futon. Subject to availability it might be possible to rent a friend's beach hut to coincide with bookings. The hut is close to the steps to the beach at South Green. On the ground floor of Sole Bay Cottage are the Sitting room, Dining room, Kitchen, a Shower room and a separate WC. On the first floor there is a double Bed / Sitting room, another double Bedroom and a single Bedroom as well as the Laundry room, Bathroom and Shower room which are reached through the "television room" in which is the single futon. The front basement room has a single bed and bunk beds. There is full gas central heating with instant hot water. Two colour TVs, with TV points in most rooms, a DVD/CD player, radio and a cot are provided. The interior is painted entirely in pale ochre, blues and white with strong colours gained from the upholstery of the furniture, cushions and Oriental rugs throughout all the rooms. The furniture is almost all of light timbers, Oak and Beech, giving a casual and relaxing feel. There is no garden, but the house is one of the few in Southwold with access to the beach without crossing a road. The rear yard is excellent for the storage of bicycles. Not all the rooms are shown in the photographs. We do insist on non-smoking tenants and unfortunately are not able to accept any pets. Weekly tenancies are usually from Saturday to Saturday but different days are possible by arrangement with the owners.

The house is conveniently situatied within walking distance of the historic Victorian town, with its selection of traditional shops, high quality restaurants and cosy cafes. Ilfracombe is the perfect location to be based for a wonderful North Devon holiday. Ilfracombe offers award winning beaches, stunning coastal scenery and old fashioned Victorian charm, on the edge of the Exmoor National Park and only a 15 minute drive away from the golden sands and surf of the famous Woolacombe and Croyde surfing beaches.Lantern House has six comfortable bedrooms arranged over two floors, sleeping 12 people in total, with two additional spare mattresses with bedding that can be used if more beds are required. There is a travel cot and bedding for younger members of your group.The dining room is located next to the kitchen with an extendable oak table that can seat up to 18. There is an additional dining table and six chairs in the den. The dining room has a working fireplace which is really cosy in the evening.
